to support and sustain performance making
Although the studio has been closed since March 18th artists on Year of Making 2020 and Month of Making have been sustaining their creative practice with the continuing support of group meetings and 1-1 mentoring sessions. The consistency of returning to the same group of people for supportive and stimulating dialogue has been particularly valuable.
Inspired by this and by conversations for many years with artists about finding a way to connect performance makers working beyond this space in London, nationally and internationally, I’m really excited to launch these virtual versions of SpaceClarence Mews programmes.
Each Virtual Programme will involve 4 to 6 Performance Makers and include:
- Regular artist meetings with the group
- 1-1 mentoring sessions
- Final sharing events for group and their invited guests (virtual or a mix of virtual and terrestrial)
Performance makers can be at any place in their professional development, process or practice. This frame offers a place for all to be supported and in conversation; whether reviewing and writing/ communicating past work, shaping a current practice, exploring future directions by way of visioning, sharing fragments or simply bringing a question to the group. PhD candidates are very welcome to join our eclectic mix of professional performance makers, as are those considering a return to making after a break.
