A NEW PROGRAMME
FOR SOLO ARTIST-IMPROVISERS

a place to take risks – dive in – do it – no need for framing or explaining – reflect – play some more between meetings and dive in again

Alongside other artist-improvisers, this programme offers a regular practice of solo improvisation and conversations.

Whatever your relation to improvisation is: improvisation as a regular practice; as performance;  as a tool for making; as a research strategy.

This 6 Week programme aims to nourish your practice within a culture of mutual respect, support and kindness.

ALL PERFORMANCE DISCIPLINES WELCOMED
Dance, music, performance, spoken word, theatre, story telling, visual arts, digital arts, film …

The programme is for 4, 5 or 6 artist-improvisers
Each artist-improviser will have:

Dialogue with fellow artist-improvisers, 1:1 support, option of studio space and a final audience – invited session shared with 2 or 3 others in the group

  • 5  Group Sessions  facilitated by Caroline Salem. Exact dates and time to be scheduled to suit all participants. 5 x Thursdays ( or a better day for all)
  • either 2-5.30pm or 6 -9.30pm
  • 2 x 1 hour 1:1 Creative Mentoring Sessions in person or online with Caroline Salem
  • OPTIONAL 6 X 3hr studio sessions at Space Clarence Mews – schedule in advance
  • Final Sharing Events with others on the programme. The audiences will be invited by the artist-improvisers who are sharing in that session. May 16-17  Dates and TimesTBC

The Group Sessions 

In the meetings the  artist-improviser is in control of their allocated time (30 to 40 mins). During the regular meetings the small group of artist-improvisers will support each other’s improvisation practice always guided  by the requests made of them by the others; eg through listening, witnessing, communicating their experience,  non verbal responding, participating, asking questions. The meetings are facilitated by experienced maker, mentor and ‘Relational Dynamics 1st’ coach Caroline Salem

COST OF PROGRAMME:

No studio hours £230

Adding  6 x 3hr studio sessions in an additional £216 making the total cost £446

Spreading your payments is welcomed with options to pay weekly over 5, 10, 20. If you are an ‘alumni’ we are offering 40 and 50 week options also

There is NO expectation that you will use studio space or have access to other studio space,  artists may be  working at home, outdoors or in other spaces
